From listening to the feedback to our pitch, I have learnt that because the film opening that we will be making is only going to last around 2 minutes, it is important that we don't try to cram too much of a complicated storyline into this little amount of time. Instead we should concentrate on the quality of the footage we will be shooting, so that we get a variety of camera shots, editing techniques, mise on scene and sound for this in order to create a really good, strong film opening.
We want our opening to allow the audience to understand the genre, get to know the main character and some back story of their lives beforehand leading up to this point in the film, also to create a tense mood so that the audience want to carry on watching the film. This is why it is important not to give too much of the plot away right at the beginning. Therefore, in our film opening we will make it clear that our character is dreaming, having flashbacks and we will keep returning to an image of her in bed so the audience know what is happening. We will end the opening on a cliff hanger so that nothing is given away as to what will happen later in the film, and this will allow the audience to use their imaginations for what might happen next.
