Conventions of a thriller - 'The Sixth Sense' analysis
The opening of the film 'The Sixth Sense' starts of with slow but intense Orchestra sample of music which gradually tends to get louder and faster creating more and more tension to the atmosphere. This music is used to introduce the film, also so that the audience can recognise the genre of the movie. While the film is introduced by the display of the opening credits, the music sets the mood and we can acknowledge the fact that the rest of the movie is mainly focused of this mood.
Thriller movies often start of with intense opening music but the first actual scene usually appears to be a normal everyday life scene which focuses of a main character. The mood is usually calm and casual but we know that this is not the case of the story which is to be revealed.
